It is my great pleasure to have Joy Nwosu Lo-Bamijoko as guest today on her blog tour. She gives us a puzzle to work out and offers a snippet of insight into her writing process. Take it away, Joy!

This is the eighth day of my ten days tour.

Now about the writing ambient, the best place that enhances my writing. Believe me, I don’t have a special place to write. During the time of my Prewrite, which I called gathering of information, I have taken notes during a bus ride, while shopping, and have stopped my car once to jot down an idea that was pressing on me to write it down. I jotted it down and continued with my driving. During the actual drafting, no matter where I find myself, I have learned to blot out all the sound around me, isolate myself into a quiet place and write even in the midst of a lot of noise. Without learning to isolate myself into a quiet place, I could never have been able to produce even a short story.

The Rules:

I have randomly chosen a short snippet from a story in my book for you to read each day of my tour.

I will choose only three winners from the correct matches. The winner with nine correct matches will be gifted with a $15 Amazon gift card and an eBook copy of your choice from any of my books. The second with eight correct matches will be gifted with a $10 Amazon gift card and an eBook copy of your choice from my books. The third winner with seven correct matches will be with gifted a $5. Amazon gift card and an eBook copy of your choice from my books.

Now the catch! If you follow the tour and read the snippets, I would hope that you would buy and read the complete stories and leave a review of the book after the tour.

This tour is supported by another of my books; Pregnant Future. If you want to read that one too, that will be great. However, the focus will be on Vagaries of Life: And Girls’ Talk. Good reading!

Snippet 8:

“Oh my God! If you’re sure of this, then we’re both in danger. Let’s go. Quickly!” He moved fast, with me in tow. Now we were two against two. As soon as the men saw us move, they picked up their pace again.

Soon, the man with me was panting for breath and looking around as if seeking help. He wore a loose safari shirt and brown trousers and carried a black briefcase; he looked the clerical type… easy life, we call them. No wonder he’d gotten so out of breath so quickly. We came to another junction with more people. I stayed close to the man, who seemed to be trying to lose me in the crowd. Clearly, he didn’t realize that we needed to stay together, as the two men likely now suspected that I’d told him what they’d done.

“We must get to the police before they get to us,” I said.

“You’re right. I know which way to go. Follow me.” We zigzagged through the crowd until we came to a bus stop. He got onto a bus that had just arrived, and I followed. We looked back to see where the two men were. They’d reached the tail end of the bus and had entered through the rear door.

“They sure are following us,” the man said and shook his head.

Justina was a fighter. And, although it seemed the world was against her and her future was destined for failure …she persevered in the face of it all.

The future that was being thrown in her face, was not the one she had dreams of …and if she wanted to get her feet on the right path, she was going to have to show the world her strength. But, does she?

Will she have the will to make it to the end, unscarred?

What would you do if you knew what the future had in store for you?

Would you run towards it with open arms, or would you run away and never look back?

Justina must make a choice … before life chooses for her.

    1. The pleasure is mine, Joy! I am honored to provide this modest support for an accomplished author (you).

Regarding the writing ambient, interruptions are deadly. If one cannot ignore them (infant cries, spousal demands, nuclear attack, etc.) then one cannot write.

  1. Joy, looking at your thoughts on where you write made me think about my own experiences. I learned to write in a busy, noisy newsroom and then as a war correspondent during battle. Now, I prefer a little Mozart or Haydn–or perhaps some quiet jazz from people like Oscar Peterson or Beggie Adair. We are all different when it comes to ambiance.

  2. Joy, I thought I was seeing double with this snippet, and I was. You are running this twice, but that’s ok with me. Lol. Hello Guy, thanks for hosting Joy.
